I have to say that it was such a treasure to study with Tiffany this
weekend. Her workshop was so eye-opening and challenging for the
group of us who survived it! hahahahhaha. Seriously, it was a
workout X4!! But I walked away with such blissful insights about my
own art, craft, passion, technique, and challenges. It was such a
great group of women too. I think we all really appreciated the
journey we were sharing!!

Big kudos and appreciation to Tiffany, for being such an outstanding,
passionate, honest, real, & genuine instructor. Mad props to Kendra
for assisting as well. She was a real treat too! And finally, a big
hug and smooch to Tori for taking the risk of sponsoring Tiffany here
in Las Vegas. I am so grateful for the opportunities you give to us,
and certainly Tiffany was no exception. I most certainly will
support her workshops when she gets back to Vegas.

The hafla last night was so intimate and juicy. I really enjoy
getting to know the folks in our community and it is always so
different each and every time.

Shalini is always so creative and juicy. It is wonderful to see her
stretch and grow with every performance. Raqaseen danced to a piece
choreographed by Yasmin and included finger cymbals! I loved it!
Somehow we managed to talk Yasmin into dancing a solo too!! And it
was a tad bit edgy and unique for her--which is also a treat to
watch. Yasmin has such grace in her dance!

I dared a new baby-belly dancer in our community to get up and
perform for us...and she did it!! I'm so proud of her!! Jordan just
moved to Vegas and is just getting started. It takes such courage to
stand up and dance in front of your peers! It makes my heart flutter
to see people face their fears and to do it anyway!

I managed to talk Danya to dance and spin poi for us. We also
managed to put the wrong song on for her...but she never batted an
eyelash! You wouldn't have known that she wasn't dancing a
choreographed piece! It was stellar!!

I was also really excited to see Tori improv a solo--and I have to
tell ya, she is really fun to watch. She has some really delightful
and creative moves that show up when it's not all planned out! Way
to go Tori!!

And, of course, Tiffany!!! WOW!!! Tiffany layers and layers in ways
that is simply indescribable. Juicy, exuberant, passionate, and
beautiful. I could watch her dance all night!!

I am also grateful to Diane & Amanda for being so enthusiastic about
costumes that they decided to take a risk, make some stuff, and show
up to vend. That was awesome too.

I had planned on going to the Jeff McBride Wonderground show to watch
Tiffany dance, but I had some personal issues that crept up at the
last minute and I needed to go be with my kiddos. So I will have to
let others comment on that show (I heard it was FABULOUS!!).

Anyway, I apologize for not doing a formal "summary" of the Halloween
Hafla...I was just too tired (and my wand wasn't working properly).
But I do want to say that our monthly haflas really do mean the world
to me. I love creating a family-friendly space where such magical
and juicy things happen.

Thanks to everyone who strives to keep Vegas positive & supportive.
You have a place in my heart, to be sure!!

Namaste,
Samira Tu'Ala

    Hey folks,

Tiffany Bisconer, who was just here in Las Vegas, posted such a
beautiful response on her tribe about her experience here that I
thought I would share it with all of you. It speaks so highly to the
Las Vegas Community that I felt you, as the community at large,
should get to hear how Vegas gets represented in the rest of the
world. The Vegas Bellydance scene is near and dear to my heart, so
it always feels good when others recognize the vision that so many of
us here are striving to attain.

    Namaste--

    --------------------------------------------
"Samira...you are way too awesome for words! It was more than an
honor to work with you this past weekend and I am more than looking
forward to the next round ;) The entire weekend was a pleasure on so
many levels. And I was so pleased to have your little one in
class...she is an incredible young woman already with such a strong
    role model as a mother.

My passion in dance truly comes in the mergence of artistry and
technique and how each of those can become a personal gateway for
each individual to give and receive such insight out of their craft.
The inspiration was garnered in both directions this weekend and I
was truly inspired by the energy, focus, positivity and receptivity
of each of the workshop participants.

It rocked to have Kendra this weekend by my side. She added so much
to the workshop experience and I am truly blessed to have such a
loyal friend and long-term partner in dance. Tori...I could write a
dissertation on....but to begin with, her dedication to this art form
is an outstanding reminder that we have the capability of building
the type of community we wish to see around us. That by being such a
strong woman, who sticks to her virtues even through adversity, she
has called in a positive group of dancers and has brought in such
quality to the Las Vegas dance scene and I was more than honored to
be a part of the vision she has.

The hafla was such an awesome experience! Samira, your dedication to
maintaining unity within the Las Vegas dance community was seen
through your passion and the constant energy you put forth to hold
all-inclusive events for a variety of dance styles as well as
bringing together the local community in the more intimate events,
such as the hafla. I enjoyed watching each of the dancers as well as
sharing my own passion in the dance with the group. Danya TOTALLY
rocked to Nina Simone (One of my absolute favorite vocalists) and
Tori kicked some royal a** on her improv set. It is amazing to see
how versatile and adaptable each of them were stepping out of their
comfort zones and truly giving their artist essence to the group. It
was awesome to be a part of the entire experience.

And at last...The Jeff McBride Wonderground show was off the hook. It
was so awesome to see how the show was put together and I was excited
to meet Jeff McBride and realize how down to earth and truly
supportive of all the artists he was throughout his career, as well
as how excited he was for each of the acts throughout the evening.
Thank you Samira for setting up this event, I had a blast dancing and
watching all the other acts....and thank you to all the dancers who
trickled their way to the show in the wee hours of the night!

A HUGE thanks to Tori, Samira and all of those in the Las Vegas
community that make it their mission to maintain such a positive
environment to help the continuation of growth and unity in the dance
scene...no small feat and one that is appreciated and admired!

    With gratitude,
    Tiffany"
